Here are some tips to help you with getting your Blog ranked highly on Google. My quick look at an article from Social Media Examiner

Right you have your Blog up and running. What is the next
thing to do? Start optimizing your posts for the search engines.
If you understand a few basic concepts its not really difficult.

SEO copy and a search engine-optimized website do three things.
1. easy for the search engines to read
2. easy for the target audience to find
3. easy for people to read.

So with these  three steps in mind, here are six things you can do to
optimize your site or your blog posts for the search engines.

1. Write a good informative post that appeals to your target audience.

2. Think like your target audience. What words would you use to find
your own post? These search terms are your keywords.

3. Write strong meta titles and descriptions.  The Meta tag in html is not a required tag when you’re creating your web pages; many pages don’t use the tag at all, and use it on your home page, although I put it into this page by way of demonstration. To put it briefly, the meta tag is used by search engines to allow them to more accurately list your site in their indexes. It makes sense to ensure that your opening paragraph is carefully written to ensure it accurately reflects what your site covers.

4. Analyze and Revise. Determine which keywords are the most important. There are a number of tools that can help to analyze a web page and show primary keywords or kw density. SEOCENTRO

5.Internal and External Links. When linking to other pages on your site, its important to link related keywords instead of phrases like “click here”. Linking by keyword tells the search engines that there is related contenet on the linked page. When you link to another site the blogger or the webmaster will usually see a trackback or incoming  link. Should you offer related content, it is possible that your colleague might find info of use on your site. In turn they could link to one of your articles. Incoming links from relevant and reputable websites are highly valued by the search engines. This is one of the most important factors when determining serach engine ranking.

6. Optimize the Url. A simple URL that includes a couple of keywords helps the search engines determine whats on the page.
